Hi, I’m Anganette Hall

(Pronounced An-jah-net) or you can call me Ange.

I am a Paediatric doctor who specialises in adolescent and young adult medicine. I have been working with young people (aged 10-25) for over 20 years. I provide evidence based care tailored to adolescents and young adults navigating the challenges of physical, emotional and mental wellbeing.

I see young people and their families for a wide range of youth health concerns including eating disorders/other eating issues, emotional/mental health concerns (anxiety, depression and mood disorders), ADHD, and general adolescent medical issues (puberty, menstrual concerns, fatigue, growth, developmental challenges) as well as helping young people navigate coping with chronic illness during the teen and young adult years.

I focus on building on young people’s strengths and assisting them in navigating their health care using a solution focussed approach. I can see young people individually and also with their families or often use a combination of these approaches.

I enjoy working closely with other health professionals from a wide range of disciplines and services including Therapy Hub, Nurture Psychology, the Central Regional Eating Disorder Service (CREDS), Child Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS and ICAFS), and with my paediatric and physician colleagues at Wellington Regional Hospital and Hutt Valley Hospital.

I also work at Wellington Regional hospital as an Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine Specialist providing comprehensive care to young people in the inpateint and outpatient setting. This includes the inpatient treatment for young people with eating disorders at Te Wao Nui, Wellington Regional Hospital and seeing young people for a wide range of adolescent care within the Adolescent Medicine outpatient Clinic. I also teach medical students and doctors about adolescent health care in my role with the University of Otago, Wellington School of Medicine.


My Training:

I completed my medical training in 1997 and specialised in Paediatrics becoming a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2005. I undertook specialist training in Toronto at the Hospital for Sick Children in 2004 and 2005 and returned to New Zealand as a specialist in Adolescent and Young Adult Health at the end of 2005. Since then I have been working with young people in a variety of settings including youth one stop shops, child and adolescent mental health services, eating disorder services and paediatric outpatient clinics and inpatient settings.

I am trained in a variety of therapeutic approaches including Solutions Focused therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Brief interventions and Family Based Treatment for eating disorders. My approach is to build on young people’s strengths and assist them in navigating their health care, while ensuring a holistic approach to their care.
